Landis sits in the Rural Municipality of Reford No. 379, on Highway 14, about 51 kilometres south of Wilkie and some 128 kilometres west of Saskatoon. From 1907 to 1909 the local post office, at Section 23, Township 37, Range 18 west of the 3rd meridian, went by the name Daneville. The community incorporated as a village on May 17, 1909.
